About Us

Who We Are

The Lord has called us to be a community of believers committed to God, to each other, and to establishing and maintaining a house of prayer in the San Francisco Bay Area (ultimately around the clock). We gather corporately in the spirit of the tabernacle of David.

We are committed to prayer, God’s Word, fasting, the Great Commission, and to understanding and spiritually preparing for the unique dynamics of the end times.

Our heart is night-and-day prayer with worship. Two figures from the Bible who inspire us in this are Anna (one of the first evangelists and intercessors in the New Testament, who prayed and fasted for over sixty years before Jesus’ first coming, as described in Luke 2:37), and King David (who organized and paid thousands of musicians and hundreds of singers to worship God night and day, as described in 1 Chronicles 23-25).

Why We Exist

There are hundreds of churches in the region that are energetically seeking God’s Kingdom: the East Bay Prayer Furnace exists as a foundational partner to them all.

We – simply – Pray.

Thus, prayer creates an environment in which to become immersed in an ongoing engagement with the Living God, having (ideally) a continual, round-the-clock and round-the-calendar encounter / conversation / "awe-session" with the One to whom we’ve devoted our lives.  That’s why we are a people of THIS ONE THING (Ps 27).

AMY + Dan Knight

Dan and Amy have been lay leaders for over 20 years, including being elders for many years in a local church body, and founders with Jim Stilwell at the East Bay Prayer Furnace. Amy serves as the Prayer Room Director giving oversight to the daily activities of the prayer room. Dan provides pastoral oversight and serves on the leadership team that strategically plans for regional prayer events, as well as serving as a prayer room worship leader.

Jim Stilwell

Jim Stilwell is one of the founders of the East Bay Prayer Furnace.  Jim and his wife Leslie have been involved in pastoral ministry for over 20 years.  In the summer of 2005, the Lord began to prepare them to embrace the call to night and day prayer.  Through multiple encounters with the Lord and searching the scriptures, Jim answered God’s call to plant a house of prayer in Dublin CA.  Launched in September 2006, the East Bay Prayer Furnace began with a handful of people eager to pursue night and day prayer and now is providing 30 hours of prayer and live worship weekly, through full time and part time prayer missionaries and many volunteers.

United prayer for sacramento

In addition to regular involvement and stewardship of prayer in the East Bay, our Founder Jim Stilwell has a clear call to the Sacramento Region of California and is partnering to establish a regional prayer room there!
